Northern Network News was founded in Sudbury, Ontario in 2009 by two former newspaper reporters who believed that local journalism was being abandoned by larger media organisations chasing national audiences. We cover city council meetings, school board decisions, agricultural issues, and community events — the stories that directly affect people's daily lives.
Over the years we've expanded our coverage to include communities across Northern Ontario, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan. Our reporters live in the communities they cover. That's not a policy — it's just how we've always worked.
We are independently owned. No corporate parent, no private equity. Our revenue comes from local advertising and reader support. Editorial decisions are made by our editor, not our advertisers.
